Evolution of Stormwater Management in Ontario

Glenn MacMillan, C.E.T.

The effective management of stormwater is essential to ensure the protection of our watersheds. Rapid urbanization, ageing infrastructure, greater climatic variability, and the need for enhanced sustainability of our urban water resources pose significant challenges for conventional stormwater management. Innovative approaches are required to mitigate flooding and erosion and prevent water quality and aquatic habitat degradation. This presentation will provide an overview of the past, present and future of stormwater management in Ontario.
